Bandits
Nab AL Title Belt Way Early
Beltway Bandits
ace Johan Santana came within four outs of a no-hitter Tuesday
night against the visiting Omaha Orange Crush before
pinch-hitter Michael Cuddyer ruined his bid with a double.
Santana settled for a two-hit shutout in the 3-0 win, not only
notching his 20th win in the process but also securing no less
than a share of the American League title. The next day, the
Bandits' Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Tejada and Craig Wilson all
homered in a four-run first as the Bandits went on to an easy
7-3 home victory that made the AL title official.
Santana also won
Sunday to record his AL-leading 21st victory. He sits tied for
the Senior Circuit lead with Livan Hernandez of the Los Angeles
Nessmen, who sports a matching 21-7 record. But both men trail
the ISBL leader, Jason Schmidt of the Alaska Willows, who won
Friday to take his record to 26-3. |
NL Race
Stays Tight, While Willows' Lead Grows In FL
 |
The National
League title chase remains a toss-up, though the Nessmen and
St. Louis Finns did swap places this past week. The Nessies
went 6-1 against the Toronto Crown Royals, including three
tight one-run wins at home, to move a game ahead of the
Finns, who went 4-3 against the Pittsburgh Pythons. The
Nessmen face the Wilmington Quicksteps and Illinois Noise in
the final two weeks, while the Finns meet the Noise first,
then finish against the Royals.
The
Quicksteps are now 8 games back of the Nessmen and 7 back of
the Finns with 13 to play, and any remaining title hopes
rest on not only trouncing the Nessies this week, but
getting help from the Noise, as well. That said, they've
secured a spot in the NL for '06. The Meat Possums sit 5
games ahead of the Noise and 6½ ahead of the Pittsburgh
Pythons for the last secure spot, but a six-game set with
the Pythons looms this week.
|
 |
The
Alaska Willows dropped their opener in Week 23 against the
third-place Ft. Worth Pioneers, but then went on to sweep the
remaining six games to further cement their place atop the FL, 5
games ahead of the crowd with 13 remaining. They'll need the buffer
zone, as they face the UL Champion South Carolina Cardinals this
week in what may -- or may not -- be a Junior World Series preview.
In the scrum below, the Arizona Raccoons are in second place, just
one game ahead of the third-place Las Vegas Nomads and two ahead of
the fourth-place Boston Dirt Dogs. The Coons take on the Giants this
week, and the D'Dogs face the Beavers, leaving the fifth-place
Pioneers -- now out of the title hunt and four games back of third
-- to try and make up ground during a six-game set with the Nads. |
 |
In the
race for securing a AL spot for '06, the second-place Force have
already secured Seniority, and the third-place Crush sit 8 games
ahead of fifth with a series against the basement-dwelling Halifax
Explosion (who will lock into last place with 3 more losses) this
week. The remaining focus is on the fourth-through-sixth spots, as
the fourth-place Gridlock are just 3 games ahead of the Albuquerque
Sidewinders (who play the Force this week) and 5½ ahead of this
week's opponent, the Saskatchewan Prairie Fire. |
 |
And in
the never-dull race for playoff spots in the UL, the second-place
Chicago Bulldogs are the only team still capable of finishing at
.500 (they'll need to go 10-3 for the remainder), and they hold a
six-game edge over the fourth-place Seattle Navigators. But they
play the third-place Cartersville Cyclones this week, who are just
four games back of second, two games up on fourth. The Louisville
Sluggers still have a chance to sneak into a playoff spot, just 4
games back of third. The Underdogs and Wolverines, while still
mathematically in the mix, are fading.

September
Roster Expansion
Teams may activate
all eligible players. DO NOT activate overused (++) or junior
draft (**) players. Continue to be mindful of usage. Additionally:
-
Mid-week roster
moves are allowed for the remainder of the regular season. Use
this option to protect players who are close to their usage limit.
-
Players currently
on the DL MUST REMAIN on the DL until the date cited in the DL
section below.
-
We advise you not
to disable players for the remainder of the season. With expanded
rosters in place, it's unnecessary, and if you do (and the player
is hurt less than 15 days), they will still have to stay on the DL
for the minimum 15 days.
League
Openings
The Seattle
Navigators and New York Underdogs are currently available. We are
actively seeking new owners for these teams. If you know someone
who might be a good candidate, contact Stats and we'll throw them
into the mix for consideration.

All series are SIX games,
scheduled 9/20-25.
First
team listed is the away team for the first three games.
Be
sure to get in contact with your opponent early ("e-mail him
before he can e-mail you" is always a good rule to follow) and
figure out if you're going to NetPlay or MP them, then schedule
accordingly.

ROSTERS ARE NOW EXPANDED. MID-SERIES
ROSTER MOVES ARE OK.
BE CAREFUL TO KEEP PLAYERS ON DISABLED
LIST FOR MINIMUM 15 DAYS. Check the DL listings below to be sure what
date players are eligible to return. PLEASE NOTE: The game
program allows players to be brought back before they've served 15 days.
ISBL DOES NOT, so please consult the DL listings to ensure that you're
bringing players back on the correct date.

STAY ON SCHEDULE!!!
-
Contact your opponent ASAP once the disk
pops (earlier, if you so desire, or if you know you're going to have
sched probs).
-
If you have contacted your opponent, and
have not heard anything by Friday night (or not received an MP from
the away team, if playing MP), contact Stats immediately.
-
If you are playing MP, first set should be
done no later than Saturday night and sent to BOTH your opponent AND
to Stats. If you haven't gotten this back by the time you wake up
Sunday morning, contact Stats immediately.
-
By the time you go to bed Monday night,
all games should be in. If you have been unable to accomplish this, or
see that your opponent (in the instances of MP play) has not gotten
them in, you need to contact Stats before you go to bed Monday night
and request an extension. Extension must explain (1) reason for delay;
and (2) how the games will be resolved within the next 36 hours. If
you fail to get in games, or fail to request extension, remaining
games will be simmed.
-
If (and ONLY if) extension has been
requested, you need to have all games in by 5pm Eastern Wednesday.
Anything not in at that point will be simmed.
If you have any additional questions
about the play schedule, please direct them to
stats@isbl.com.

You can track your finances, as well as
your payroll ceiling, at the ISBL Finances page (see link above).

Please be sure to check if you have injured
players. This lists only players already placed on the DL.
A (CAREFUL!) note denotes a player whose injury
expires before his DL time does. Don't bring these players up until the
day noted, or the Usage Nazi hammer will come down on your little head.
The following are color-coded for your pleasure.
Bold players are new additions.
The day listed is the day they can come back
and play.
